Our concert A minor flute is our most affordable and easy to play in the concert series. It is a relative C major, which is a great contemporary scale. The finger spread is a comfortable 5-1/2″, center-to-center, top to bottom finger hole. The A minor projects so well that its my flute of choice when climbing into the canyons because of the really great echoes.
Our concert flutes feature a precision nest under the bird. The nest enhances the performance by giving you a really alive, present voice that can handle big breath extremes. It’s really hard to overblow these flutes, even with a heavy vibrato. These are the famous flutes that you hear on many of today’s native American style flute albums.
Our concert flutes are built using a superior one piece construction method. This gives you a more solid flute without any delamination concerns which some two-piece flutes face. Drilling is also very accurate in as much as I can bore down the center of the flute +/- .002″, or ½ the thickness of a $1 bill. Drilling also makes for a prettier flute without the glue lines.
Our flutes have a 6 hole, extended range tuning. This is sometimes called a Mode 1-Mode 4 tuning. They have a total of 15 notes, covering an octave plus a minor third. They also cover a 12 tone chromatic octave within the 15 note scale. This is the standard tuning used by most flute makers. A finger chart is included with your new flute, showing exactly how to achieve each of the 15 notes.
Our flutes have a hand-rubbed finish that includes four hand sandings, four coats of finish (inside and out) and a final steel wool rub. This process takes over four weeks. You’ll feel and see the difference our finishing effort makes.

I’ve had the Little Horse A minor for years and have loved it, but the A minor concert flute was a good step up. The tone of this flute is gorgeous: high, bright, and clear. It has plenty of volume, though it plays very softly, too. I keep the flute on a side table and can’t resist picking it up and playing it every time I pass it. Though I have stretched out to collect Butch’s flutes in lower keys, I still love the light, joyous sound of the A minor, and how easy it is to play. I have become a huge fan of Butch Hall’s flutes. They are elegant, very pleasing to look at, and sound wonderful. It’s amazing that you can get such a professional flute at such a reasonable cost. Thanks, Butch, for such a beautiful instrument.

I have been playing Native American Flutes for a couple of years and have recently came across Butch Hall Flutes. I first ordered a concert flute in the key of G in Cedar. After a couple of weeks playing my new flute, I just couldn’t get over the responsiveness of the flute. There is a definite difference in the manner in which Butch’s flutes play. I have seen other flutes in which I thought were attractive, and I own flutes from several manufactures, but no flute plays like my Butch Hall Flutes! I enjoy freestyle playing but also use my flutes to praise God and play sheet music. I was so impressed with these flutes I ordered a concert flute in the key of A in walnut. I love it! Not only was the flute Great but I can’t tell you how wonderful and nice Mr and Mrs Hall are. It would be hard to find better customer service and gentle kindness. Thank you both for a product of excellence and your kindness to people whom you have never met!

I’ve been playing native American flutes for a couple of years now and absolutely love them! I suppose I’m a sucker for instruments that take you on a journey when you play them. My first flute was from another maker in the key of A, which I had a lot of fun on but was a bit disappointed by the quality of the instrument. It seemed like a mass produced product not made with huge amounts of love…and while I was lending it to a friend it got lost! Since then I’ve felt like a part of me was missing without having a flute around to play…then I found BUTCH HALL FLUTES holy moley! How can such amazing quality instruments be around for such an affordable price, Butch you are amazing.
My A-minor concert flute is exactly what I wanted it’s energetic and alive and playing gypsy scales on it reveals a whole new land to get lost in. I absolutely love this flute and am also very excited to play some of Butch’s lower flutes.

Butch & Laura,
Just received my first flute ("A" minor concert). It was "love at first note" (Lol). There are really no words to describe the sound quality and total craftsmanship of the flute. It makes my other flutes pale in comparison. You will definitely be hearing more from me as I add more of your flutes to my quiver.
Phil
P.S. — Thanks Laura. You picked out a cool colored flute bag for me.

I received my concert A Minor in Red Cedar this morning. What a beautiful instrument it is. It is very responsive and has good tone and volume. The cedar smells absolutely wonderful. This is my second Butch Hall flute and it won’t be my last. If you are looking for your first flute or just wanting an A Minor for your collection, you should really give this flute serious consideration. The Hall family have fine flutes and great customer service.

Hello Butch,
My flute arrived on Saturday and I just wanted to let you know that I am very happy with it. I am “blown away” by the quality, workmanship, and the sound of the instrument. It went above and beyond my expectations. It plays so well and has become my favorite flute. Thank you for shipping it out so fast!
Thank you very much!
