  • From Louis on D Minor Concert Flute

I mistakenly wrote my review on the E minor flute but meant to do it for this D minor (Senior Moment!). I love the sound and playability of this D. I thought it might be too big for my small to medium hands but decided to order it anyway, and am glad I did. It fits just fine. What really amazes me about this D is that the low notes, even the lowest, does not over blow. I have an E from another maker that easily – too easily – over blows on the lowest note. Not this Butch Hall Concert D. The note stays clean and clear and resonant. This is my first Butch Hall flute but because of the quality combined with the afford-ability, I am going to buy the Concert A, G & F# over the next couple of months.
  • From Lou on E Minor Concert Flute

I don’t have large hands – maybe medium at best or small to medium – but I can play this flute (E Minor Concert). It is amazing to me that I can’t over blow this flute on the low notes! It allows for a strong breath and increased volume on the lower notes, it that’s what you’d like to play sometimes. It’s such a clean, handsome looking instrument. I’m so impressed with this flute’s sound and playability that I am going to add the G, F# and A to my collection. I think the D and C might be too large for my hands, but might try the D at a later date. My biggest surprise is the affordable prices of such concert quality flutes!

  • From Ezra Bose on A Minor Concert Flute

I’ve been playing native American flutes for a couple of years now and absolutely love them! I suppose I’m a sucker for instruments that take you on a journey when you play them. My first flute was from another maker in the key of A, which I had a lot of fun on but was a bit disappointed by the quality of the instrument. It seemed like a mass produced product not made with huge amounts of love…and while I was lending it to a friend it got lost! Since then I’ve felt like a part of me was missing without having a flute around to play…then I found BUTCH HALL FLUTES holy moley! How can such amazing quality instruments be around for such an affordable price, Butch you are amazing.
My A-minor concert flute is exactly what I wanted it’s energetic and alive and playing gypsy scales on it reveals a whole new land to get lost in. I absolutely love this flute and am also very excited to play some of Butch’s lower flutes.

  • From Christine O'Byrne on F# Minor Concert Flute

I am not an experienced player at all, having only one other little 5 hole flute that I play a diddy on once in a while. I decided that it was time to upgrade. I like lower tones and the sound clips, detailed description and reviews helped me to decide on getting the F# minor in Eastern Red Cedar.
The package arrived and I was so pleased with the presentation and care that had been put into it. When I took my flute out, I just smelled the cedar aroma and rubbed the gorgeous smooth finish for a long time before even trying to play it! Then when I played a couple of notes, I knew that I had made the right choice. Thank you for such a pleasant shopping experience on your well designed website, and for creating a wonderful addition to my life!

  • From Marcia OC on "Le Mita Cola” G Minor Flute

Much has been said about the `La Mita Cola´ NAsF so I will try to be brief on this review : I simply cannot put it down once I start playing it.
Again a big `Thank you´ to the Butch Hall Family !

  • From Marcia OC on "Little Horse" A minor Flute

Little Horse is certainly THE A minor NAsF for any player, at all levels and ages. It has a beautiful full sound, is a beauty to look at and is really easy to produce a soothing sound from the very start. It is as perfect for both energetic tunes as for the mellow ones. I simply love mine.

  • From Nick on G Minor Concert Flute

    Hi Butch, Rachael, and Laura,
I just received my Gm Concert Flute. I just had to let you all know how much I like this flute already. As soon as I opened the package and saw the nicely figured Red Cedar I knew that I made the right decision in choosing one of your flutes. The finish is smooth and feels like velvet in my hands and has an inner glow that accentuates the pretty wood grain.
I was impressed with the metal Bird’s nest and how perfectly it is inletted into the wood leaving an almost seamless appearance. What a great design to keep the contact area in a perfect mating alignment. Im sure it will help with wetting out and of course it provides perfect contact to reduce the amount of air needed to make the flute sing.
Of course the most important thing is how does the flute sound? All I can say is…Perfect! My first note was beautiful and melodious as was the rest of the scale and perfectly in tune according to both my ear and electronic tuner. Perfect pitch with a rich smooth expressive tone… just what I was looking for. It plays wonderfully at very low volume as well as at louder volume.. enough to fill a large room with beautiful music. It allowed me to easily bend notes and add all of the emotion and joy I felt in playing this terrific flute.
There is no question that your flutes are hands down the best value in the world of Native American Flutes..
Thank You for allowing my own spirit to soar through one of your wonderful flutes. I am looking forward to ordering more flutes in the future.

  • From Linda on F# Minor Concert Flute

Hello Hall family, I received my F# concert flute yesterday and it was not a disappointment like so many others have been. This flute sings with such a clear and beautiful voice. I like that the finish is not put on thick like so many other makers. I can get a better seal with my fingers on the holes of your flute since the edge of each hole is clean, smoothly cut and sanded to perfection. Thank you so much for this quality instrument that’s simple in form and not overly embellished, after all, it’s about the voicing of the flute and how it makes you feel when playing it. You’ve crafted an affordable, finely made flute for those of us that appreciate simplicity and function. This will undoubtedly be my favorite flute to play for many years in the future.
    Best regards, Linda Laine

  • From Marcia OC on "Little Bird" b Minor Flute

Little Bird reached me here in Brazil after a long migration of fifty-three days. And I must say I am fully happy and satisfied with its singing voice.
Little Bird has a beautiful voice and is so gentle and easy to play. I believe it does not matter whether one is five or ninety-five, Little Bird can be played by everyone really. Its finish is superb, it is accurate in tuning and articulation and has a full but gentle tone.

A big thank you to the Butch family for making and allowing these wonderful flutes to be accessible to the world ! 🙂
