  • From Kiah on G Minor Concert Flute

This is a thank you to Paul/Cloudsonfire and Butch & Laura Hall for my beautiful G Minor flute. The sound is awesome. I have played a silver flute my whole life and I love it, but my new G Minor Butch Hall flute has the sound of the earth resonating in every note. I just love it. Sincerely, Hope Kiah
  • From Joseph McConnell on "Rainmaker" Anasazi Style Flute

This flute—a birthday present—is my first flute from Butch Hall. After Googling pictures of ash wood and canary wood to compare, I decided to choose ash wood, and, upon opening the package, was blown away by look of the the flute. The flute also included a beautifully-designed fleece bag that I had not expected to get. After repeatedly practicing day after day, I was finally able to get a decent sound out of the flute, and after a little over a month, I am now able to play the flute with decent skill. The skill level of this flute, as others have stated here, is truly difficult, but once you get past the difficulty, the playing experience is truly rewarding. As a caution, the spacing of the flute holes (six in total) can be a bit apart, so there may be a little stretching of the fingers to play (the sixth hole, in my case). Otherwise, I have no complaints about this flute. Thank you, Butch Hall, for making this wonderful and unique instrument!

  • From Jennifer on E Minor Concert Flute

Just wanted to let you know we got the flutes. I am NOT returning them!!! I have another flute that I thought played well, but these are as smooth and easy as pouring melted butter. The mouthpiece is different than what I was used to but, from the very first blow, the sound is clean, pure and perfect. My 13-year-old daughter has fallen in love with the Little Bird. I tried to record us playing a duet to send to you, but she kept giggling too much. Still, the music is lovely. The Em is heart-rending. I don’t think I’ll need to go lower. Thank you!

  • From Peggy on G Minor Concert Flute

    Hi Laura & Butch,

Thank you so much for sending the flute! I received it last Friday
and played it immediately. It is so much more than I expected.
I have been wanting a flute for many years now, ever since I got
one for UW-Stout in Menomonie, WI, where I taught. Colleen
Hannifin, a friend and music store owner from Eau Claire, WI, found one from
someone she knew and it was a red aromatic cedar. Just days
ago, I decided to call her but then remembered Peter Phippen who
I had met through Colleen and who came to UW-Stout to give a
presentation about his flute collection and to play for us
So I looked up Peter online and saw that he endorses your flutes.
My panicked search was over. I need not do any more looking. At first
I thought the quality of flute might be far above my budget, but to
my surprise, they were right in line with what I was looking for!
I absolutely love the sound of the flute in G. Two weeks ago I didn’t
even know what key I wanted. Although I like to play for myself, I wanted
a flute that I could play with other instruments.
And besides, it is so BEAUTIFUL! I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to
have one of your precious flutes!
Many, many thanks! I will be sharing its beauty with many children and
adults alike. I am the music director of a Methodist Church and I also
have been drumming with a drummer who does drum circles with all
sorts of people and locations: dementia and Alzheimer patients, disabled
adults, assisted living, companies and schools.
I am so blessed to have this amazing instrument!

  • From Steve on F# Minor Concert Flute

    Hi Laura,
Thank you so much for checking up on this. I meant to tell you that the flute arrived the day after we left for vacation, and we are having all our mail held.
For the first time in my life, I can’t wait to get back from vacation!
    Thanks again, Steve

  • From Peter Phippen on "Rainmaker" Anasazi Style Flute

A really amazing instrument that can be played with three styles of embouchure. Shakuhachi style, oblique or inter dental … Sounds wonderful all three ways.

  • From Jason on "Rainmaker" Anasazi Style Flute

Among my favorite styles of flutes are the rim-blown’s. This is a fantastic instrument which is beautifully crafted and plays both sweetly and darkly. Simply out, I could not be happier with this sonic treasure.

  • From Steven on C Minor Concert Flute

Thanks for such a fine instrument.

I took it to my drum circle last night and everyone was amazed in so many ways. First such a small inlet hole. Second so light for a flute for being so big, hence forth known as "Big Boy", third close and easy fingering spread as I was worried it might be difficult to play, fourth the deep rich tone.

At the end of the drum circle I played Chen Yen’s song "Trail of the Angles". It was so melodic.

I have given away half of all the flutes I have ever bought as a way of paying forward for the good things I have had in my life. This flute stays with me until the day when every soul must give up possessions. Until then I will definitely enjoy having it with me.

    Sincerely,

    Steven

  • From PhilD on "Le Mita Cola” G Minor Flute

Delivery was prompt; 2.5 days to Colorado. The flute has a beautiful finish and a beautiful voice. I have played the flute for 30 minutes straight and it didn’t stop playing because of the water. I love the voice on this flute and it is my first choice when I want to play. I’ll definitely add a concert tuned flute to my collection (E or D) for the low notes.

  • From Alan Thomas on D Minor Concert Flute

I wanted to write and commend your on the great service you all provide to your customers, friends and prospective customers. I am a collector and love NAF flutes and found a used one that had been owned by someone who passed away. The family was selling it and I sent an inquiry as to the value of the flute to make sure I received a fair price.
Laura responded promptly with great information to help me make a decision on the purchase. I was so impressed by the quick replies, and helpful information that I will definitely be buying and playing more Butch Hall Flutes in the future.
Not only are you buying a well made, well tuned flute, but your dealing with great, helpful people that truly care about others and based on my experience will be there for you when needed. Your help will not be forgotten Laura, Thank You.
