Our C minor concert flute is a very low bass flute, in our largest 1-1/2″ bore. It’s a relative D# major. I love to play this flute at shows. It definitely turns heads with its haunting, extremely low tones that you feel as much as hear.

The finger spread has a challenging reach at 6-7/8″ if you have small hands, but a comfortable reach for normal size hands.

Our concert flutes feature a precision nest under the bird. The nest enhances the performance by giving you a really alive, present voice that can handle big breath extremes. It’s really hard to overblow these flutes, even with a heavy vibrato. These are the famous flutes that you hear on many of today’s native American style flute albums.

Our flutes have a 6 hole, extended range tuning. This is sometimes called a Mode 1-Mode 4 tuning. They have a total of 15 notes, covering an octave plus a minor third. They also cover a 12 tone chromatic octave within the 15 note scale. This is the standard tuning used by most flute makers. A finger chart is included with your new flute, showing exactly how to achieve each of the 15 notes.

Our flutes have a hand-rubbed finish that includes four hand sandings, four coats of finish (inside and out) and a final steel wool rub. This process takes over four weeks. You’ll feel and see the difference our finishing effort makes.

    Good evening Laura and family,
I recieved my new flute today and it is absolutely amazing! I own several other flutes and I have played probably over a hundred different native flutes over the years. Most of the flutes I’ve played are excellent pieces but they just don’t have the range that this flute has. I am beyond impressed and will share this with my family and friends. This flute will be a treasured family heirloom. I wish you and your family all the best and hope you continue making these awesome flutes for years to come!
Also, thank you for the wonderful hand written note. Every flute I have is very unique and meaningful to me and I know most of the makers personally. It was really nice to see that you put such pride and sentiment into your work.

Thanks for such a fine instrument.

I took it to my drum circle last night and everyone was amazed in so many ways. First such a small inlet hole. Second so light for a flute for being so big, hence forth known as "Big Boy", third close and easy fingering spread as I was worried it might be difficult to play, fourth the deep rich tone.

At the end of the drum circle I played Chen Yen’s song "Trail of the Angles". It was so melodic.

I have given away half of all the flutes I have ever bought as a way of paying forward for the good things I have had in my life. This flute stays with me until the day when every soul must give up possessions. Until then I will definitely enjoy having it with me.

    Sincerely,

    Steven

I love this flute– definitely a favorite! I am a small person, with small hands, and was challenged to figure out how to get the beautiful sounds from this big flute. I practiced a lot and figured out a good angle for my fingers to cover all of the holes. Well worth the practice and challenge, and playing it is all the sweeter for having to deeply get to know this flute and all of her beautiful nuances. I had avoided larger flutes in the past because of my small hands, but love the deeper tones, so glad to have this flute!

Wonder deep tones on this flute. A favorite every day. Have avoided the large flutes because I am a small person with short fingers. But with love, practice, and patience I have partnered nicely with this flute to share her beautiful songs.

This flute is amazing! Perfect design and construction – the flute is a real beauty – and the sound is so delightful and lively, with spot on tuning…my favorite part is how this flute can handle passionate playing without “overblowing” and the notes stay pure when pushed to their limits…this flute is a joy to play and a joy to hear, pure and simple.
