Our most popular flute, with easy to reach finger spread spacing at 5-3/8″ center-to-center, top to bottom finger hole. They use a superior one piece construction method. This gives you a more solid flute without any delamination concerns which some two-piece flutes face. Drilling is also very accurate in as much as I can bore down the center of the flute +/- .002″, or ½ the thickness of a $1 bill. Drilling also makes for a prettier flute without the glue lines
Our flutes have a 6 hole, extended range tuning. This is sometimes called a Mode 1-Mode 4 tuning. They have a total of 15 notes, covering an octave plus a minor third. They also cover a 12 tone chromatic octave within the 15 note scale. This is the standard tuning used by most flute makers. A finger chart is included with your new flute, showing exactly how to achieve each of the 15 notes
Our flutes have a hand-rubbed finish that includes four hand sandings, four coats of finish (inside and out) and a final steel wool rub. This process takes over four weeks. You’ll feel and see the difference our finishing effort makes
Our basic flutes can be discounted in a quantity of 10+ for schools, flute circles, churches, scouting groups and other instructional use. Please inquire for further information on teaching discounts.

My wife surprised me with this flute when she attended the Gathering of Nations in Albuquerque a number of years ago, where Butch and Laura were attending. It was easy to learn and start playing., especially with Butch’s books. This is a beautiful cedar flute with a gorgeous tone, and I still keep it next to me and play it regularly, even with my Concert flutes around. I think it is the best value in the Native flute world. The A minor is a bright, higher, beautiful key–happy, but also capable of haunting sounds. The finger spacing is easy, even for a child. The Little Horse is compact, and fits nicely in a backpack. It sounds great when I play it outdoors, in the woods or in a canyon. I also didn’t realize it would go so well with my guitar, and I used it to make a sort of cover of "Stairway to Heaven," of all things, on my laptop, This flute led me down the path of becoming a lover of the Native American flute.

Little Horse is certainly THE A minor NAsF for any player, at all levels and ages. It has a beautiful full sound, is a beauty to look at and is really easy to produce a soothing sound from the very start. It is as perfect for both energetic tunes as for the mellow ones. I simply love mine.

I have been collecting flutes for some time. Now after finding Butch Hall flutes the only flutes I need to collect are Butch Hall! I own an A and a F# concert flute and after I post this I will be ordering a D. I’m hoping to add all of the concert flutes. Life is to short to not have these incredible sounding flutes in my life! Thank you Butch Hall

I have purchased a pre-owned A minor Butch Hall flute. I was amazingly surprised at how well it sounds. Its very precise in it’s Tones. I plan to buy another flute ASAP. So happy.

I recently purchased a used A-Minor Butch Hall (#101) from 2004. A wonderful sounding/looking flute in Perfect condition. It is a couple inches longer than the Little Horse that I just bought to fit into my girlfriend’s hiking pack (she hikes a Lot!!). She plays a concert flute and Piccolo (she never takes her flutes into the woods), but she has never owned a Native American Flute. Last year I got her favorite Chocolates for her birthday. This flute was less expensive, and will last a whole lot longer… and I think she Needs one!

For my first Native American style flute I have to say I’m very impressed with it so far. Very beautiful instrument and the wood is amazing quality and I’m glad there is your branding information on it! I also LOVE the fact that you guys put information for Native flute circles in my state! That is the nicest thing!!
